Biographical note

Project Summary:2010 marks the 100th anniversary since Dr James Herrick published the first scientific paper describing a case of 'peculiar elongated cells' in a patient – what we now know as sickle cell disease. Targeting key areas of the National Curriculum, this project will result in two films and supporting educational resources designed to further debate about issues related to sickle cell disease and highlight the profound impact of more than a century of biomedical research into the condition for affected families.
