Biographical note

Francis Galton was the first Chairman of the Committee for Conducting Statistical Inquiries into the Measurable Characteristics of Plants and Animals, formed in 1894 and from 1897 known as the Evolution Committee (Plants and Animals). Walter Frank Raphael Weldon was the first Secretary.
