The ruins of Laodicea including a theatre are seen with some local people and animals. The mountain of Yunt is seen in the background. Laodicea was earlier known as Diospolis and Rhoas. The city was the ancient Hellenistic metropolis of Phrygia Pacatiana (also attributed to Caria and Lydia), built on the river Lycus (Çürüksu), in Anatolia near the modern village of Eskihisar, Denizli Province, Turkey. The church at Laodicea was one of the Seven Churches to whom the Book of Revelation was addressed (Revelation 1:4 and 3:14)

Sardis was located in western Anatolia, later Sartmustafa, Manisa province in western Turkey. The church at Sardis was one of the Seven Churches to which the Book of Revelation was addressed (Revelation 3:1-6). The gold-bearing river Pactolus was the source of the Lydian currency (and possibly the origin of all gold currency). Fragments of columns are lying on the riverbank in the right foreground

Ephesos (Turkish: Efes) was an ancient Greek city on the coast of Ionia, three kilometers southwest of present-day Selçuk in İzmir Province, Turkey. In the engraving, a group of villagers approach the city of Ephesus with their beasts of burden. The Nif Mountain, which is one the nineteen mountains called Mount Olympus in antiquity, is seen in the background
