Black nightshade is also known as common or garden nightshade and poisonberry.
The shoots and leaves of black nightshade are edible and the fruits of some large fruited forms (wonderberries) are used in pies. The berries are supposed to be poisonous but are used to treat spasms and epilepsy

Young shoots and leaves of comfrey are eaten as vegetables, the leaves are used as a styptic and the leaves and roots as a purgative

The unripe seed capsule yields opium used medicinally and for smoking, the seeds are used in baking and contain oil used in paints, salad oil and soap etc.
