Dialogue includes: The tall man carring a cane says: "Bless me Sir I cant imagine why you walk with your mouth open in such windy weather." The smaller round man retorts: "Confound the purblind pupy hes knock'd out the only tooth I had left." A lady in the background says: "O dear o dear I've lost my wig."

Grimaldi wears an ornate riding costume with tassels on his shorts decorated with a criss-cross shape and socks with decorative embroidery. He wears an extended cap and holds a large whip. His horse, unusually, has curly hair and is much larger than the horse in front carrying Mr Norman who wears a similarly extended riding cap but a long coat with tassels. He carries a much smaller whip

These conjoined-twins are the original Siamese twins, from whom the name derives. Born at Maklong near Bankok in Siam in about May 1811, of Chinese extraction; they were taken to America and then England in 1829, where they were exhibited causing great excitement. They were placed under the medical charge of G.B. Bolton, M.R.C.S., who made extensive observations along with others at the time. After visiting the principal cities in Europe they returned to America to settle as farmers in North Carolina, adopting the name of Bunker and marrying two sisters who bore each of them many healthy children. In 1869 they made another tour through Europe and took advice from eminent surgeons of Britain and France on the feasibility of being separated, with no ultimate conclusion. After having returned to their dual families (which they kept in separate houses) Chang developed bronchitis, which led to their death in mid-January 1874
They are shown indulging in an English diet. One is drinking liquor, and is thin due to over-reliance on alcohol. The other tucks into a leg of lamb and is obese

Among the ministers are Peel and Scarlett on the left, Lyndhurst and Wellington on the right both of whom wear nose-rings. Scarlett encircles Ellenborough, who, with Sugden, is behind the King. Their tribal dance celebration alludes to the relief that the ministers must have felt to be able to retain their positions with the new reign. William IV was a popular King and a stark contrast to George IV and was liable to wild bursts of passion as is suggested here. He and the Duke of Wellington (then prime minister) got on very well, hence the retainment of his ministers. He is dressed in sailor garb in reference to his years in the navy. The tribal dress of the ministers refers to the far-flung shores that William visited
