Description

Collection of alchemical notes, extracts, processes, etc., including two short diaries of alchemical operations. Mainly in German: with a few entries in Italian, and Latin. Author's holograph MS. Illustrated with a few rough pen-drawings of alchemical apparatus. Contents: (1) Chymische Zeichen nebst deren Bedeutung ex Patris Athan[asii] Kircheri Libro XL, Sectione IV, fol. 342. 'Mundi subterranei' (3 ll.). (2) Chemicorum aliquot terminorum explicatio (6 ll.). (3) Excerpta ex 'Auriferae Artis quam Chemiam vocant' Vol. 2do. (Basel. ap. Pet. Pernam 1572 in 8vo.) (6 ll.). (4) G. (S. D.) Processus primus [et secundus], 1728-1730 (8 ll., 4 ll.) (5) Varia chimica, 1733 (12 ll.). (6) Berninger (C. von) Secreta Berningerana, 1732 (1 l. + 12 pp.). (7) G. (S. D.) Collectanea Arcanissima Arcanorum, 1732. (44 ll.). This includes alchemical processes, receipts and some chemical remedies in Italian, ascribed to B. von Paschetag: they are dated from 1732 to 1739. The compiler's initials are found at the end of the 'Vorarbeit' to No. 4, and on the title-page of No. 7. Both of these are in diary form. The first is from 5/12/1728 to 9/5/1729 and from 27/2/1729 to 30/6/1730: the second (No. 7) from 7/10/1732 to 1733. The date 7/17 M[ai]i 1739 is found in a marginal note on the recto of the last leaf of text. Produced in Prague.
