Dr Colin MacDougall (Slade Hospital, Oxford) explains the principles for drug treatment of leprosy set out by the World Health Organisation in its 1982 Technical Report No.675, "The Chemotherapy of Leprosy for Control Programmes", with particular reference to the use, both singly and in combinations, of dapsone, rifampicin, clofazimine and the thioamides.
