About this work

Description

Disraeli was leader of the Conservatives and Prime Minister when the UK parliament was dissolved in March 1880 for a general election which was won by the Liberal Party under Gladstone. Thereafter Disraeli remained in Parliament as Leader of the Opposition for only one more year (1880-1881) before his death in 1881. Sir Stafford Northcote was Chancellor of the Exchequer in Disraeli's last government
