Including a letter to Jean Henri Hassenfratz (1755-1827) on Amazonian termite hills, letters to Noel Jean Lerebours (1762-1840) on barometers, a letter to Louis Puissant (1769-1843) on geodesy, and letters on cholera, Indian arithmetic and the 'Humboldt' current. With a letter enclosing some zoological drawings made at Cumaná, Venezuela, in 1799. Also includes a letter to an unknown recipient relating to sea temperature and referring to information sent to Humboldt by Darwin and Admiral Fitzroy, c.1840 (letter 7092/104).
