Notes

Anne Makepeace comes from Newcastle upon Tyne. She is a knitter and professionally crochets. On the plinth she will be knitting to show that crafts that are passed on from generation to generation are important and not just for grannies. She will do a big piece of colourful knitting and had asked her online knitting community to make flowers which she will attach to the piece of knitting. She has been overwhelmed with the number of flowers that people have sent in. Some of the flowers will then be made into things like broaches, bag charms and then sold to raise funds for two charities; Arthritis UK (she is treasurer to the Newcastle branch) and to a charity for the blind which has helped her father who is partially sighted. She hopes to throw some of the flowers out into the crowd.
