Biographical note
Thomas Donaghoe was born in County Cavan and educated at Trinity College Dublin, graduating B.A. in 1799. He was created a Doctor of Medicine by St. Andrews University in 1809 and a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians in 1814. He served in the medical service of the army; at the time of the Battle of Waterloo he was principal medical officer at Brussels. He died at Torquay on 16 February, 1838. (Biographical details from Munk's Roll of the biographies of Fellows of the Royal College of Physicians, in which he is referred to as "Thomas Donahoo".)
