About this work

Description

Isabel Armitage presided over the out-patients and casualty departments, after organising much of their transfer to Giltspur Street in 1907. She was famed for her even temperament and her insistence that the waiting patients sit in silence (G. Yeo, 'Images of Bart's', London 1992, p.120)
