Copy 1 Note: With MS. corrections, some on inserted slips, by Burnett's sister, M.A. Burnett (not the author) and covering letter from her to 'W.' [i.e. T.J.?] Pettigrew, 8 Saville Row. The letter is not dated but must be not earlier than 1840, as one of the inserted refers to the death of Burnett's mother in March of that year, so that the addressee is more likely to be T.J. Pettigrew than his son, William Vesalius, who had married in 1839.
