Fournier, Mathurin

Copies of legal documents relating to the family and other affairs of Mathurin Fournier, Maître-Chirurgien à Périgueux, from 1595 to 1620: in French. At the end is a collection of medical receipts, also in French, by a late 17th cent. Physician. Inside the lower cover is inscribed 'Le 12 avril 1674, Mr Pomart nous a fiancé ...' and below 'Le 26 entre une et deux i'espouzay dans l'église de St. Jehan Mr Pommart aussi nous espouza'. These inscriptions and two others of the same year relating to his wife's shoes and a corset, are apparently by the writer of the medical receipts who in several cases mentions the effects of remedies upon his patients. Produced in Périgueux.

1 volume 81 ll. + 18 bl. ll. + 83 pp. folio. 351/2 x 221/2 cm. Original calf binding, worn. The last leaf is slightly defective, and the MS. is damp-stained throughout. The first leaf of the Receipts is wanting.
