Description

The last in a three-part series following the journeys of three individuals diagnosed with cancer. This part features 33-year-old Mark who was diagnosed with bowel cancer 5 years ago and is now terminally il, 50-year-old Steve who has prostate cancer and Katie who has had recurring malignant skin melanomas. In between these featured cases, other people discuss their experiences of cancer diagnosis and treatment. James longs to live long enough to see his 2-year-old son start school and worries that he will not remember him so is writing a diary for him. He and his wife are forced to have very difficult conversations about how her life will be after he dies. Katie is given a chance to join an immunotheraphy clinical drug trial which might stop the cancer from returning again. However, the drug treatment can have very significant side effects which she is unable to cope with. Steve undergoes surgery to remove his prostate gland, suffers some complications afterwards and does not immediately get the all-clear he was hoping for.
