About this work
Description
This documentary follows the pregnancy of Thomas Beatie, 'the world's first pregnant man'. Thomas, born Tracey, lives in the sleepy logging town of Bend, Oregon, with his wife, Nancy, who is unable to conceive. Since the pregnancy became known nationally the Beaties have been hounded by the press and receive frequent threatening phonecalls and emails. There are medical problems due to the hormone medication Thomas takes, plus legal problems as to whether Thomas should be registered as father, mother or both. The programme follows the couple through pregnancy, childbirth and immediately after.
