Description
Letters from T H Huxley to his friend Sir James Thomas Knowles (1831-1908), architect, and founder of The Nineteenth Century. The correspondence is personal rather than scientific. It relates in part to the Metaphysical Society, founded by Knowles in 1869, and to The Nineteenth Century, which he founded and edited from 1877. The letters span the periods 1871-1878 and 1886-1895.
