About this work
Description
Katie Piper was the victim of a vicious acid attack in 2008 and has undergone 109 operations to rebuild her face. This documentary follows her as she explores various options to restore her sight. She is particularly drawn to embryonic stem cell research. The treatment is ground-breaking as it involves transplanting stem cells directly into her eye which involves some ethical soul-searching for Katie. In the end, she opts for the stem cell treatment and after a long recovery period and is delighted with the results.
