Copy 1. Supplier/Donor: Med. Soc. Lond. Bound in blind panel stamped parchment. 18th cent. manuscript signature (twice) of John Johnstown on front pastedown. Signature at foot of title page: Jo: Johnstoune. Manuscript inscription on back pastedown: 'March 2 1711 This boke belongeth to Docter Johnston as I believ Let him ges who writt it. [In another hand:] It is so ill wrotte the Doctor believes it was writt by A--- C--- or Mrs J. C---n when she was drunk. March 3. 1711. [In first hand:] The docter is wrong for it was written by his loving sister Helen Johnston March 3 1711.' 19th cent. manuscript inscription on front pastedown: 'The Gift of Dr. Sims'. This book was formerly part of the collection of the Medical Society of London, which was deposited for safekeeping in the Wellcome Library in 1964. It was eventually purchased by the Wellcome Trust in 1984, with assistance from the National Heritage Memorial Fund and other charities.
