Death is challenged by a crusader representing the Red Cross; advertising the Third Red Cross Roll Call for the improvement of public health. Colour lithograph, 1919. Lettering: "The challenge. Join the crusade. Third Red Cross Roll Call. Nov. 2-11." Public health campaign. The Third Red Cross Roll Call was an appeal to the American public, from Sunday November 2, 1919 to Tuesday November 11, 1919, for a $15,000,000 fund for the improvement of public health, including the provision of more public health nurses, the establishment of public health centres, the reduction of tuberculosis and the reduction of infant mortality
