Biographical note
The Crichton Royal Nurses League was formed in 1955 and consisted of past and present nursing staff who met up at regular intervals in order to maintain links with the hospital and each other. The League, which was also called the Crichton Trained Nurses League for a period, held their first Annual General Meeting in May 1956. Each year members gathered for the meeting followed by a social function. The League had an international membership and their News Sheet was produced and posted to members to keep them up to date with Crichton events and developments. The League began as a group for nurses who had carried out their training at Crichton Royal, however nurses who had trained elsewhere, but were or had been Crichton Royal members of staff could also join as associate members.
