Biographical note

Anderson, Thomas (1819-1874), chemist, born in Leith. His interests were Organic and Agricultural Chemistry. Anderson's study of decomposition made him an expert on sewage disposal. In 1869, he suffered a stroke and died in 1874. A full description of his life and work can be found in the Dictionary of National Biography.
