About this work
Description
Well illustrated with cinemicrography, this film traces the discovery by pathologists Sir Alastair Currie and Prof. Andrew Wyllie (Edinburgh University Medical School) that cell death, long regarded merely as evidence of decay, is actually a mechanism which causes damaged cells to dispose of themselves. It has important implications for cancer research in that cancer may be a result of damaged cells failing to destroy themselves.
