About this work

Description

Visualisation of calcium waves during cycles 10-14 of Drosophila development, confocal images. Embryo was co- injected with Ca-sensitive dye Calcium green dextran and Ca-insensitive rhodamine-dextrin. Thus ratio indicates real changes in calcium concentration and not changes in dye distribution or other artefacts. Images are of cortical glancing section of anterior pole. Ca waves initiate at anterior pole and propagate to centre of the embryo. Data have been topologically transformed, so value of ratio is on z plane of figure.
