The mad cow contagion.

In an attempt to clear the confusion surrounding bovine spongiform encephalitis (BSE) the film looks at rates of infection, investigates methods of transmission and the likelihood of BSE crossing from cattle to humans. There is criticism of the government's action in blocking work on a BSE test for maternal transmission which, if positive, would mean that the disease is harder to control than the government will admit. The film also calls into question government reassurances regarding a decrease in infection rates and their denial of the possibility that BSE poses a threat to humans.
