Notes

George Nicholas Tortice a self-employed IT consultant from Leeds drove down on the day to take part. He heard about the project on the internet, but only saw his email invite on the final day to reply and so considers himself extremely lucky to secure his place. For the project he took inspiration from Nelson as he was already there, and because he didn't want to just be himself. He thanks West Yorkshire Playhouse costume department for helping him prepare his jacket and hat. He became involved with amateur dramatics as a child, and last did a performance several years ago. Though he admits has no experience in public art, he loves Antony Gormley's work particularly The Angel of the North. On the plinth he will be dressed as Nelson, but will not be doing anything outlandish, instead he plans to enjoy his time and take some photos. With him he has a telescope, digital camera and Polaroid instant camera, as he believe it's a unique opportunity to take photos from this angle. With the Polaroid camera he plans to throw the photos back to viewers.
