About this work

Description

Woodcut illustration from Shenti sancai tuhui (Coloured Illustrations of the Body), by the Ming (1368 - 1644) author Wang Siyi, showing the specific disease location for breast abscesses (ruchuang). This disease is caused when heat toxins (redu) enter the body, attacking the muscles. The disease affects both breasts. It results in the formation of masses, which if not resolved, become abscesses or ulcers.
