Notes

As part of his masters' research into conflict and trauma, Duncan Stewart Barron had the opportunity to interview war veterans. Struck by the need of veterans to talk about their fallen comrades, his research evolved into an oral history project about Remembrance. Inspired by his research, he took a man made of Remembrance poppies onto the plinth and encouraged people to text him the names of veterans. For every name texted, he placed a poppy in a display. Duncan's experience of being alone on a plinth, among people but separate from them, made him think of the war veterans he had interviewed and the isolation they felt upon returning to society after war.
