The first from Thomas Short [1690?-1772] dated 3/9/1742, 1 p. 4to., gives advice on the use of the waters for a friend of Robinson's and mentions Normanby Waters. The other is from Peter Shaw, M.D. [1694-1763], dated 21/2/1734/5, 1 p. folio, on the chemical analysis of mineral waters. The MS. additions at the end of the printed text contain full notes of chemical experiments on mineral waters, and on medical chemistry: there are notes of numerous visits to Scarborough, with observations on the waters there, and at other places in England.
