About this work

Description

Capsicum Annuum (Chilli Pepper) Plant close-up with leaves and bright red small pepper fruit. The hot peppers yield capsaicin, which activates vanilloid receptors and is used to relieve facial neuralgia. Several varieties have sweet or pungent edible fruits that are used as vegetables when fresh and spices when the pods are dried. Powdered pepper is paprika, used in cooking and against sea-sickness. Red peppers have a high vitamin C content which is almost completely lost when they are dried.
