Description
There were 6 commissions in total, which met annually, as follows:
1st Commission: 1971-1975. To foster the development of new anti-epileptic drugs and to promote increased knowledge of drug therapies.
2nd Commission: 1975-1981. To focus on the chronic toxicity of anti epileptic drugs
3rd Commission: 1981-1985. To promote the dissemination of information about epilepsy; to acquire information about the use of anti epileptic drugs in various countries; to promote the application of ILAE guidelines to clinical trials; to produce a list of high quality epilepsy treatment centres around the world; to promote collaborative studies
4th Commission: 1985-1989. Research into drug availability in developing countries and the production of a Glossary of Antiepileptic Drugs; updating of the Guidelines for the Clinical Evaluation of Antiepileptic Drugs
5th Commission: 1989-1990. Development of guidelines for the evaluation of new drugs
6th Commission: 1990-1997. Consolidation of previous work
