The attribution of this work to Tommasini is based on the style and subject, and it may be dated approximately by the reference on the recto of the second leaf of the text to "mio collega Rubbini nella memoria sua sui mezzi meglio atta ad impedire recidiva delle febbri periodiche". Produced in Parma.

Biographical note

Pietro Rubini (1760-1819) was professor of clinical medicine at Parma University from 1794 to 1807, and Tommasini was professor of physiology and pathology at the same University from 1794 to 1816 (see A. Cazzaniga, Le grande crisi della medicina italiana, 1951, Cap. 6).
