About this work

Description

The paragraphs on folios 1-9 are not numbered, but from fo. 10 the numbering is resumed from 255 to 339. Up to this point the handwriting is the same as that of Vol. 1, but from fo. 60 the text is continued without interruption by another hand. The paragraphs numbered 340-367 are written on fo. 60-64, the book has then been turned upside down and the text continued on the backs of the previous pages, backwards from 59 verso to 8 verso. The second handwriting is neater than the first, and its writer has engrossed the titles of the sections above them. The numbers on the backs of the pages run from 368 to 554. The prescriptions are for the most part sheer quackery, many of them being called "Secrets."
