About this work

Description

File belonging to J Collet Smith, containing correspondence and copy letters. Includes a letter to BW&Co from A Chune Fletcher (21 December, 1903), and letter (original) to Collett Smith from Henry Wellcome (12 February, 1904).

Wellcome asks Collett Smith to keep the deed of partnership, which will arrive shortly, under lock and key and to be vigilant: "it is often the unexpected that wins battles. Japan got in her torpedoes where Russia thought she was safe and had no need for vigilance[,] don't underestimate the foe - & don't fail to take the best of legal advice quite independently of Messrs Forbes & Haviland, and if necessary go to Washington to make sure of your points...nothing is unecessary which insures [the] safety of our case."
