Description

Cell morphology: flagellum of the sleeping sickness causing parasite This is a transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a transverse section through a Trypanosoma brucei brucei flagellum. The image clearly shows the 9 + 2 arrangement of microtubules in the axoneme: 9 outer doublet microtubules and a pair of singlet microtubules. The paraflagellar rod structure is also clearly visible.
