About this work

Description

Vaccines: Braxy-Blackleg. In some flocks the seasonal risk of braxy (Cl. septicum infection) in sheep under one year old is accompanied by a risk of blackleg (Cl. chauvoei infection). These two organisms are also responsible for blackleg in cattle. A single dose of this vaccine in sheep and cattle generally stimulates sufficient immunity to protect against both braxy and blackleg. A second injection is advisable to enhance the level and duration of immunity. Vaccination should be completed at least two weeks before the disease is likely to appear.
