About this work

Description

Presented by Michael Mosley, this is the first in a six-part series looking at the history of scientific discovery. Mosley begins by looking at the story of one of the greatest upheavals in human history - the understanding that our planet was not the centre of the universe. He looks at the vital role of medieval astrologers and draws connectinos between Renaissance upheavals, the growth of coffee shops and Californian oil and railway barons. He shows too how important the practical skills of craftmen have been to this story and finds out how Galileo made his telescope to peer at the heavens and by doing so helped change our view of the universe forever.
