Description

Collection of alchemical receipts, extracts, and processes: in German and Latin by many different hands. Illustrated by a few rough pen-drawings of apparatus, etc. Pp. 119-164, 476-514, 788-824, 931-941, 955-1005 are blank. Some of the entries are written in cypher. This compound volume contains a collection of extracts, copies of letters, and oddments, all dealing with Alchemy, and is mainly in German and written by a large number of different scribes. Some of the entries are dated, the earliest 1677 is found on p. 1079, the latest 1739, on p. 942. P. 333 contains a title-page inscribed 'Arcana Chimica à Domino Johanne Ferdinando Chrzepizky Libero Barone de Modlischkowiz S. Caes. Regiaeque M. Judiciorum et Cameralium Assessori nec non Regiae Com. Boh. Consiliarius [sic]. Anno 1706, 28 Augustis mihi communicata'. This section may possibly end at p. 475, after which there is a gap of 38 blank leaves. Pp. 545-558 Headed 'Arbeit so zur Tinctur gehörig Joh. v. Rehe [Rhé] Proces'. Pp. 613-625 is headed 'Kranckheits Recepta von menschen wie absondere auch andere Arcana von pferde undt auss einem ausserlichem [?] MSC. Jacob de Krzbats [?] Nobilis cujusdam Silesii et quondam Consulis Wratisslawie'. [c. 1725].
