Description

1 volume of photographs featuring exhibitions curated by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum displayed in London and abroad. Includes the following;

Travelling international exhibitions;

  • International Congress of the History of Medicine, Madrid 1935. Exhibition focuses on ophthalmology and the evolution of surgical instruments.
  • Paris Exhibition, Palace of Discovery, 1937. The exhibition was devoted to the display of exhibits related to scientific research work. The Palace was divided into sections relating to biology, chemistry, physics, medicine and surgery. The display focuses on the evolution of the stethoscope, clinical thermometers, microscopes and spectacles; achievements of French physicians and chemists; history of anaesthesia and blood transfusions; autograph letters.
  • New York Exhibition Rooms, 1938. Areas of medicine the exhibition focuses on include Egyptian, Classical (Graeco-Roman), general ethnographical or primitive medicine and North and South American medicine. Also includes exhibits on the history of pharmacy and venereal diseases.
