Description
Lymphoepithelial cyst
This is a medium power view of a section of parotid gland from an HIV-positive person with a lymphoepithelial cyst. It shows that the solid epithelial island (arrowed) is infiltrated by B-lymphocytes. H&E stain.
These lesions mimic those seen in Sjögren's disease of salivary glands. The lesion in HIV-positive people is more florid and is associated with cystic dilatation of the salivary ductules.
