About this work

Description

Published reports by the Commissioners of the General Board of Lunacy for Scotland with statistical appendices. Reports contain statistical tables relating to patients, proceedings of the District Boards, expenditure as regards pauper lunatics, cost of district asylums, details of the condition of patients in private dwellings, lunatic wards of poorhouses, and in public and private asylums and the condition of the establishments themselves; and details of dangerous, criminal and alien lunatics. There are fifteen volumes of hardback bound reports, 1858-1887, that were part of the Crichton Royal Institution Medical Library, DGH1/3/1/2/1-15. There are 66 volumes of hardback and soft-bound individual reports, some in duplicate, 1862-1913. Several of the soft-bound reports have Dr J. Rutherford's name written on the front cover. Dates are shown on the majority of volumes for the year they were published with the report relating to the preceding year. The report for 1909 (53rd) is wanting.
