Advertising card for Tarrant's Seltzer Aperient (about 1880?). The aperient was sold as a bottle of white powder which produced 30 - 40 glasses of "foaming, sparkling Seltzer" when added to water to which was supposed to cure "headaches, constipation, indigestion and dyspepsia". This one shows a man with abundant sideburns in white shirt and blue and grey striped trousers holding a bottle of the aperient in his right hand and a glass in his left, standing in a room with a bed, table with a red cloth over it and a large, ornate clock on the mantlepiece behind him.
