    44 they regret to announce to the General Court, 44 that Doctor James Hamilton, the Senior 44 Physician of the Institution, after a service of 44 Forty-eight years, performed with unremitting 44 zeal, and great professional abilities, has intimat- 44 ed his intention to retire from office. The Ma- 44 nagers, therefore, beg to return to him their most 44 grateful thanks ; sensible as they are, that by the 44 able and active discharge of the very important 44 duties attached to the office of Physician to such 44 an Institution, Doctor Hamilton has not only 44 been the means of saving many valuable lives to 44 the community, but increasing the reputation of 44 the hospital, as forming part of the Medical 44 School of this city.” Sir William Arbuthnot, with reference to that part of the Report which mentioned the resig- nation of Dr. Hamilton, after a high eulogium on his distinguished talents and services to the Infir- mary, moved, 44 That Doctor Hamilton, having 44 resigned the office of Physician to the Royal • 44 Infirmary, which he has filled for forty-eight 44 years ; and the Managers having expressed the 44 highest satisfaction with the manner in which he 44 has at all times discharged the important duties
