About this work

Description

A Briefe of the Act for incorporating the Apothecaryes of London. Contemporary copy. The Charter passed the Great Seal on 6 December, 1617, but there were many subsequent disputes, with the Grocers' Company, the College of Physicians, the Corporation of London, etc. It seems probable that this document may have been drawn up in connection with one of those many controversies. A full account of the early history of the Society is given in the 'History of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London', Vol. 1, 1963 by the late Cecil Wall and the late H. Charles Cameron, revised by E. Ashworth Underwood (Publications of the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum. New series, No. 8). Produced in London.
