About this work
Description
Prevention of malnutrition: group feeding programme
This image shows children waiting for a school meal in Lesotho. They are each given a cupful of a maize and bean porridge.
Beans (legumes) provide starch, protein, iron and B group vitamins. A mixture of a cereal and a legume provides good quality protein, but vegetables or fruit should also be eaten to ensure that sufficient micronutrients are provided.
