About this work

Description

The files in this series mainly relate to Stanley Browne's involvement in activities organised by Drummond Road Baptist Church, Bermondsey. The church played a big part in Browne's life from childhood through to his early 20s. He was converted to Christianity during a mission at the Church in 1917 and was baptised as a born again Christian in 1922. Up to 1930 he was an active member of the junior and senior Christian Endeavour Society, a member of various church committees and founder of the Drummond Road Boy's Own Club. He was also a Sunday School teacher at the church and annually from 1918 to 1931 Browne took the National Sunday School Union Scripture Examinations.

Further material relating to Stanley Browne's religious activities can be found in series A.8 and A.14
