Ownership note

Inside the upper cover is inscribed 'R. G. e libr. Askev. Mar. 10. [17]85' showing that it was purchased by Richard Gough [1735-1809] the antiquary, and had been formerly in the library of Anthony Askew M.D. [1722-1774]. Inside the cover again 'Libri 445'-the Sotheby sale of March 31st, 1859 of the MSS. of the notorious Guglielmo Bruto Icilio Timoleone de Libri-Carrucci [1803-1869], the mathematician and bibliophile. It was bought at this sale by Sir Thomas Phillipps, and bears his number 'Phillipps 16335'.
