Papers relating to BBC 2 Horizon programme Controversy which was to be shown in July and feature various eminent psychoanalyists and psychiatrists presenting their differing views on and approaches to mental illness. The programme included Ismond Rosen. It also included Dr Thomas Szasz presenting the case for a social approach to the etiology of mental illness (Szasz had recently published a book The Myth of Mental Illness). File includes correspondence and an article on Szasz by Maggie Scarf originally in the New York Times Magazine, 3 Oct 1971 and an article by Szasz 'Bad habits are not diseases. A refutation of the claim that alchoholism is a disease' in The Lancet 8 Jul 1972.
