Transcripts of interviews with related correspondence, 1997-1998, conducted for Rheumatology in the United Kingdom: fifty years of progress in treatment, education and research, by Dr Dixon, which was published in 2000. A copy of this is held in the library at Wellcome Collection. Also includes some supporting material relating to this publication, along with material about the early days of the Centre for Rheumatic Diseases, Baird Street, Glasgow.

Allan St John Dixon is a Rheumatologist who has published extensively. He worked as Consultant Physician in the Rheumatism departments of St Stephen's and St Mary Abbot's Hospitals in London, before moving to Bath to work at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases and St Martin's Hospital.

A founding member of The National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society, Dixon was the first Chairman, serving from 1976 until his retirement from the Health Service in 1986. He continues to be involved with the Society, currently serving as Vice President. More recently, Dixon was involved in setting up the National Osteoporosis Society in 1986. He has also served as Medical Secretary of the Arthritis and Rheumatism Council and as Secretary-General of the European League Against Rheumatism.
