Description

Collection of medical receipts, notes on medicinal waters, etc.: with a series of 39 'Consultations' and case-histories, including a transcript of a letter on small-pox by François Chicoyneau [1672-1752] and another on a post-mortem examination addressed to him, with his reply: also a note on small-pox by the compiler. In French. Compiler's holograph MS. Contents: Medical receipts and prescriptions (pp. 1-23); Des eaux minérales usitées en cette contrée (pp. 24-26); Meyne[s], Bollène, and Vals are mentioned. Medical receipts and prescriptions (pp. 27-64); 39 'Consultations' and notes of cases (pp. 65-259). These are mainly by the compiler, but include a 'Lettre de Mr. de Chicoyneau, premier médecin du Roy' on small-pox (pp. 222-231). There is also a copy of another letter to Chicoyneau 'sur l'ouverture d'un cadavre' (pp. 236-241), and his reply (pp. 241-248). De la petite vérole (pp. 260-283). Medical receipts, notes of cases, etc. (pp. 284-end). The date 1738 is found on p. 321. The compiler's signature, written inside the upper cover has been struck through. Produced in Avignon.
